Frederike is a contemporary circus performer with the unique skill of combining juggling and object manipulation with movement, dance and acrobatics.
She started her training in 1995 by the young age of 12 in juggling, followed by acrobatics, static trapeze and contemporary dance. She very early gained performing experience through working with the youth circus group
Cirque du Temps in her hometown Bremen in Germany.
She performed in numerous productions in the
Shakespeare Company theatre, took part in international youth circus festivals and trained and performed in collaboration with Belgian circus school
Cirkus in Beweging.
By the age of 16 she worked as a semi-professional artist performing in numerous shows.
Considering a professional career in circus she took part in an intensive training course in circus skills in the Hungarian State Circus School in Budapest in 2000.
Through Frederike's passion and energy she learned how to keep on
training further on her own. She took part in workshops with Roger
Schmitz, Cindy Marvell, Gunther Rebel to name a few and through theses experiences she gained a broad
understanding of different performing art forms.
She graduated from high school in 2002 and her main studies in Physics and Art increased her interest in juggling and manipulation. She took part in master classes with Sean Gandini and Kati Yla-Hokkala, renowned for their work in juggling, performance and founders of company
Gandini Juggling, and was fascinated and inspired by their virtuosity and art of combining juggling with movement and dance.
The same year she decided to study circus skills at
The Circus Space in London.
She graduated in 2006 with a BA(hons) Degree in Circus Arts and received the prestigious
Pyramid Award in circus from Deutsche Bank UK to further launch her career.
Since summer 2006 Frederike is working professionally solo and in ensemble. She has been working for companies such as Feeding the Fish and Gandini Juggling in shows in the UK, all over Europe, Egypt and Dubai. Through living in London and working with other artists and performers she has developed a growing interest in classical music and the development and creative process of performing arts. These interactions have given her much inspiration on creating and working further on her own projects.
"Your performance was truly amazing.
The music you used was magical.
I just enjoyed it so much."
